Blackberry Empathy

For their sponsored project held by RIM Blackberry at the Art Center College of Design, designers Kiki and Daniel had to incorporate an interface that integrates human emotions with the concept of social networking. The result of this exercise was the Empathy concept. The phone is used in conjunction with a biometrics ring that is worn by the user to collect “emotional data”. Spec-wise it features a transparent OLED screen that becomes transparent when not in use and opaque during interaction. The front is all touch surface, while on the back there is a physical keyboard.

As Daniel describes the interface:

It is of course touch based and all the user’s connections are shown graphically so you can see who is connected to whom. Each contact has an avatar that is encompassed by two colored rings. The inner colored ring shows the contact’s previous emotional state, and the outer ring represents the contact’s current emotional state. It is important to show the shift in emotions in order to see how an event has affected that contact.

Another important feature that we felt was important was the “Emotional Health Chart”. This chart would monitor the user’s emotional health through an indefinite period of time. One would be able to see how a certain event, or phone call/ message has affected the user. Obviously, if the chart shows someone is always upset, there would be a problem… If permitted, a user would be able to view other user’s charts as well.

BlackBerry Blade Stunning Concept Design

You will definitely say WOW , its just awesome design after looking at the concept design of the blackberry blade .This concept design just made my day ! The concept design of blackberry blade below came from Toronto Design Firm Pixelcarve . we have already posted Wrap-around Amazing BlackBerry Concept Smartphone .

According to the specification listed on the design image , The blackberry blade features a quad core 1.5 GHz processor ( it looks like 2012 is for quad core processors ) , a 4.5 inch AMOLED display with 720×1280 pixels, 12MP rear camera that shoots 1080p video at 60 frames-per-second and a 5MP front camera.

Upcoming BlackBerry Blade is rumored to come with 4G LTE support , in addition to its 3G and Wi-Fi hotspots features . The BlackBerry Blade concept that will most probably run on the BlackBerry 10 OS if blackberrry going to make it real !

The latest smartphone concept entitled the Wrap-around BB bears an interesting appearance that is sure to get mobile enthusiasts’ heads spinning around for another glance. This is no ordinary BlackBerry handset. It has been given a very futuristic look and ports along various innovative features and attributes that would definitely garner the interest of most tech fans out there.

The latest cool concept for the RIM device strays far from the traditional keyboard and simple touch designs which are synonymous with these offerings. It forays into new pastures, bringing forth a refreshing notion that is expected to tug at the heartstrings of BlackBerry fans. The overall design takes advantage of the brand new screen technology that boasts of being transparent and flexible while possessing lightweight attributes which make it easy to port around just like any other handset.

Designer John Anastasiadis explains, “The front and back cameras are positioned underneath the screens. When needed the area around the camera lens becomes transparent. The wrap around screen can allow for separate workspaces and/or a more three-dimensional interaction with the device. Obvious benefits apply to business, entertainment and navigation applications.”


According to Yanko Design, the trendy treat is noted to enter in two forms, a candy bar as well as a slider, with the latter accommodating a slide out keyboard drenched in red with gray keys, and the BlackBerry logo etched at the right hand side corner. The ‘smart’ wrap around screen indeed seems to feature an intelligent streak as it can apparently tell the difference between the palm hold when inactive and an intentional command.
